This dataset supplies the bulk of both the judgment corpus (Supreme Court + 25 High Courts · 1950 → present) and the statutory and regulatory provisions served by the platform.

Changes we made: every passage in our corpus was re-processed by NyayaVeda AI — re-chunked, re-embedded with our own retrieval model, and indexed against our own citation graph and confidence scoring. The dataset's published vectors and any derived graph are not used. The source text itself is unaltered.

Regulatory instruments are ingested from each body's own official portal and are credited to the issuing body:

The attribution condition above is inherited rather than imposed by any intermediary. The eCourts policy, and those of the National Company Law Tribunal and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal, each require that the source of judicial records be prominently acknowledged.

NyayaVeda AI therefore acknowledges the Supreme Court of India, the 25 High Courts of India, the eCourts project of the Department of Justice, and the NCLT and NCLAT as the originating sources of the judicial records in its corpus.

The text of Indian judgments, Acts, rules and regulations is a Government work under section 17(d) of the Copyright Act, 1957, and its reproduction is permitted by section 52(1)(q) of the same Act.

NyayaVeda AI claims no copyright in the law itself, and grants none.

Your right to use the underlying legal text derives from the statute — not from us, and not from any intermediate compiler. What the licences above cover is the compilation layer: the selection, extraction, structuring and metadata work. Attribution is owed for that layer only.

Open-source software dependencies are listed in the repository LICENSE file under Third-Party Open-Source Components. Retrieval-time model weights carry their own upstream licences and are not redistributed by us — this includes the sentence-transformers embedding model and the ms-marco-MiniLM-L-6-v2 reranker (Apache 2.0, sbert.net), and Tesseract OCR (Apache 2.0).
